Founder of Stagecraft Strategy, Lauren 'Ren' Mueller (they/them) is a highly credentialed executive speechwriter, speech coach, and communication consultant in Portland, Oregon. They bring nearly a decade of speechwriting and communications experience in the U.S. House and Senate, along with degrees in Shakespearean scholarship from U.C. Berkeley and Oxford University. On Capitol Hill, Ren served as sole speechwriter to Members of Congress navigating some of the most consequential moments in recent American history, including impeachment proceedings, COVID-19 emergency response and economic relief efforts, debt-ceiling negotiations, government shutdowns, infrastructure investment debates, and the defense of democratic institutions in the aftermath of January 6. Beyond government, Ren has written for influential leaders across academia, business, entertainment, and philanthropy, helping speakers translate complex ideas into language that resonates. Ren is the founder of Sister Scribes, a networking group for women and gender diverse speechwriters, and has worked closely with speakers through TEDx Portland. They are currently revising a play, "Living the Dream" about January 6, which received two enhanced staged readings as part of Portland’s Fertile Ground Festival for New Works in April 2026. |
