Hi, I'm Lauren 'Ren' Mueller, founder of Stagecraft Strategy. 

I spent nearly a decade writing speeches and strategic communications for Members of Congress. As a woman and nonbinary introvert, working behind the scenes felt familiar. But over time I realized the more I helped others make an impact, the less impact I made myself. 

So in Fall 2025, I stepped out of the wings. I founded Stagecraft Strategy to help other people like me — particularly women, and gender-diverse individuals — take the stage and make an impact too. 

Drawing on nearly a decade of Capitol Hill speechwriting and a theatrical background, I work one-on-one to help you tell your story and deliver it with the power it deserves. Whether you need a speech, op-ed, blog post, or video script — I'll help you get it done with Capitol Hill precision and theatrical skill.

About
​Before founding Stagecraft Strategy, I spent nearly a decade as a speechwriter on Capitol Hill. I worked with Members of the U.S. House and Senate through some of the most consequential moments in recent American history — impeachment proceedings, the COVID-19 emergency response, debt-ceiling negotiations, government shutdowns, infrastructure debates, and the defense of democratic institutions after January 6th.

Beyond the Hill, I've written for leaders across academia, business, entertainment, and philanthropy, helping speakers say complicated things while still sounding like normal humans. I hold a B.A. from UC Berkeley and an M.St. from Oxford University, both in English Literature with a focus in Shakespeare.

I founded Sister Scribes, a national networking community for women and gender-diverse speechwriters, and I coach speakers through TEDx Portland. I'm currently revising Living the Dream, a play about January 6th that received two staged readings at Portland's Fertile Ground Festival for New Works in April 2026.
